Assigned Risk
Since 2003, SeaBright Insurance has been the only servicing carrier for the Washington U.S. Longshore and Harbor Workers' (USL&H) Assigned Risk Plan (WARP), serving state businesses with USL&H and Jones Act/Maritime Employers Liability (MEL) exposure. As WARP's servicing carrier, we handle all the claims, medical management, and loss control services for assigned risk policyholders and fulfill all reporting requirements.
Qualifying companies that come to us for assigned risk coverage under WARP have access to the specialized expertise and quality services we bring to all our maritime policyholders:
- More than 25 years' experience with USL&H and Jones Act/MEL coverage and claims, including cross-state, multijurisdictional issues
- Tenured claims examiners, located in our state headquarters, who average 24 years' experience with maritime claims
- Claim closure rates that surpass those of the 10 largest workers' compensation insurance carriers1
- Local market knowledge and access to the Northwest's top physicians, medical specialists, and maritime attorneys, which drives better claims outcomes
- Access to our pioneering Physician-Guided Care program in which physicians advise on the medical treatment of injured workers in complex claims, thereby lowering costs and returning workers to health (and productivity) more quickly
- Access to some of the most comprehensive loss control services in the workers' compensation industry
